Daughter of Many Mothers
June 27 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm$17.00
Have you ever been in a circle of women where you were invited to “call in” your mother and your mother’s lineage?
And have you ever felt left out because of that? Or did you feel uncomfortable?
Maybe you have a crappy relationship with your mother. Maybe you were adopted and don’t know the names of your ancestors. Maybe your mother has recently died and it’s painful to speak her name. Maybe your mother would be horrified that you’re participating in a women’s circle. Maybe you’re lineage is a source of shame because of harmful political views and actions.
By the end of this class you’ll have an elegant list of “mothers” that you will be proud to name at your next women’s circle.
I’ll help you expand your definition of “daughter” and learn how to call in your “mothers” in a much more creative way.
For example, here’s how I could call in my “mothers”:
“I’m Katie, daughter of the lapping waters of Lake Erie and the humid heartland of Ohio. I am the daughter of the moors of Britain, the Transylvania wilds and the red, arid hills of Italy. I’m the daughter of women who honor the earth. I’m the daughter of brave immigrants and hard workers, of queens and teachers.”
“I’m Katie, daughter of Motown, the Drifters, and The Beatles. I am the daughter of the Violent Femmes, The Pixies, and the Beastie Boys. I’m the daughter of people who close their eyes and travel on sonic magic carpets to their pasts, to their people, and to themselves. I’m a daughter of people who listen.”
Both are true.
How would you feel the next time you’re asked to call in your mothers if you could confidently stand up and summon a rich, powerful, accurate ancestry like these?
In this class, The Queen archetype will guide you in uncovering your own powerful lineage.
You’ll have personal time to complete a writing exercise that will guide you to your expanded lineage.
Then we’ll all stand together for an anointing ceremony where you will name yourself in with your new, expanded lineage, a Daughter of Many Mothers.
After this class, you will have a clearer understanding of your origins.
You’ll walk through the world supported by these powerful roots.
And the next time you’re asked to “name your mothers” in a women’s circle, you’ll stand tall, take a deep breath, and do it like a boss.
Join me Thursday June 27th from 6 – 7 pm at Asheville Raven & Crone.
This class is open to female-identifying people ages 13 and up. Minors should be accompanied by an adult, please.
